Budget 2024: Next Visit Malaysia Year to be held in 2026

PETALING JAYA: The next Visit Malaysia Year has been set for 2026, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said, in tabling Budget 2024, that the government has targeted 26,1 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2026 with domestic spending of RM97.6mil.

The government has also allocated RM350mil to boost tourism promotions and activities to make Malaysia the world's top tourist destination again.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said these include organising Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and collaborating with the industry to promote tourism activities and events within and outside the country.

"More than 200 cultural activists will also be given help in organising arts and cultural activities," he said while delivering his speech in the Dewan Rakyat.

Anwar added that funds will also be provided to the Islamic Tourism Centre to develop Muslim-friendly tourism in Malaysia.
